The Siren Genii Bellydance Troupe Made history in New York City in the 1990's. Founded by Sara Cook and Julie Arenson who were both left handed, every move they corriagraphed started on the left. Not only did they play music clubs like the Pyramid and Nells, but they also played the legendary Sideshow's by the Seashore at Coney Island. The troupe made their own costumes, props, and wrote elaborate storylines for their performances. They performed with live music as well by the Desert Seamen Group. Such a unique performance group received ackolades by such stars as Sonic Youth. They performed with bands like the Lunachicks. They even had a night every week at the Pyramid where they dj'ed as well as danced. Here are some photos from the Deluge and Planet Medusa.
